Odoo Partners in Canada — Evaluation Guide

How to choose the right
Odoo partner in Canada.

There are dozens of Odoo partners in Canada. The Odoo partner directory lists certified firms; it does not rank them by quality for your specific situation. This guide gives you the framework to evaluate any Odoo partner — including us — so you can make the right decision for your business.

Evaluation criteria

Six things that separate a strong
Odoo partner from a costly mistake.

These criteria come from the pattern of what we see go wrong when clients come to us after a failed implementation with another partner. Evaluate every candidate — including us — on these six things.

01
Odoo certification level

Ask to see the partner's certification. Odoo Ready, Silver, and Gold are formal tiers with specific certification requirements. A self-described "Odoo expert" with no partner listing is not the same as a certified partner. Certification is the floor, not the ceiling — experience matters more — but the floor matters.

02
Industry experience

Ask how many implementations they have done in your specific industry — not "we have done many ERPs." The configuration for a Calgary construction firm is different from a Montreal distributor. Ask for a reference client who runs a similar business, and actually call them.

03
Fixed-price scope document

Any serious Odoo partner can produce a written scope document with a fixed price before the project starts. If a partner insists on time-and-materials without a defined scope, or delivers a vague proposal with a large budget range, move on. Fixed-scope, fixed-price is the right protection for both parties.

04
Who specifically does the work

Larger firms sell the engagement and subcontract delivery. Ask by name who will be the lead implementer on your project and what their experience is. A partner's reputation is built on their best work; your project is staffed by their available people.

05
Canadian tax and compliance knowledge

Canada has specific requirements: GST/HST/PST/QST configuration, CRA-compliant invoicing, Canadian payroll complexity, fiscal year flexibility. Ask specifically how the partner handles Canadian tax setup. "We configure that during implementation" without specifics is not an answer.

06
Post-go-live support model

Ask what support looks like after you go live. A partner who disappears after the implementation is done is a pattern — ask for their support model, SLA, and how clients reach them for urgent issues. You will need support after go-live; factor that into the evaluation.

Types of Canadian Odoo partners

Who is in the Canadian
Odoo partner ecosystem.

National / larger partners

Firms with 10+ Odoo consultants, Silver or Gold tier, typically targeting mid-market and enterprise clients. Higher implementation cost but more capacity for complex projects. Examples include several Ontario and Quebec-based firms in the Odoo partner directory.

Best for: 100+ employee companies with complex multi-entity, multi-location, or manufacturing requirements.
Regional SMB partners

Smaller certified partners — typically 2–10 consultants — focused on SMB implementations in specific regions. Alberta, BC, and Ontario each have certified regional partners. These firms often have deeper industry knowledge in their region and more accessible pricing.

Best for: 10–100 employee Canadian SMBs who want industry-specific experience and direct access to the team doing the work.
Freelance Odoo consultants

Individual certified Odoo developers or consultants. Can be strong for specific tasks — custom module development, technical configuration, report building — but typically not the right choice to manage a full implementation from scoping to go-live.

Best for: Adding capacity to an implementation already managed by a partner, or specific technical work on an existing system.
Where to find Odoo partners

How to start your
partner search.

Odoo partner directory

odoo.com/partners — filter by Canada. Shows partner tier, location, and any public reviews. The starting point for any search.

Google "odoo implementer [your city/province]"

Regional firms often rank for local terms before they appear in the global directory. A local search surfaces regional partners who understand your market.

Ask your accountant

Canadian accountants who work with Odoo clients often know who does good work in your region. A referral from a trusted advisor is worth more than a directory listing.

Odoo community forums

Odoo.com community forums show who is active and knowledgeable. A partner who contributes to the community signals genuine expertise rather than just marketing.
